How to Make a Business Page on Facebook - Part 1
You probably have a personal Facebook account to connect with friends – both ones that you know in person and also ones that you've connected with via Facebook and have never met in person. So you know just how Facebook has taken the world by storm. It seems that everyone is using it.
Facebook claims to have an estimated 750 million unique visitors every month. That's a lot of traffic. That kind of traffic gives you a great opportunity to publicize your small business, gain new customers, and increase your cash flow. By default, your Facebook business page is public. Everyone can 'like' your page and become a 'fan' without the need for admin approval.

Step 1 – Get StartedSetting up your business page is actually very easy. Go to http://www.facebook.com/pages/create.php to begin the process by choosing the type of page that best describes your business. Once you click on the category you prefer, that box will ask you to:
- choose a classification that narrows your type of business
- input your brand or product name
Step 2 – Describe Your BusinessFacebook then will give you the opportunity to describe your business in a few sentences to help your website show up in search results. Don't worry if the right words don't come to you right away. You can always modify it later.
Fill in your website url and choose a unique username for your page. The username can be your business name or a shortened version.
Step 3 – Add a PhotoYou'll want your page to be visually appealing so that people are inclined to stop and spend some time on your page. The first step in making it attractive is to add a profile photo for your business.
You can use a logo if you have one. Alternatively, you could use a photo of yourself or a promotional image. Choose whatever you think will resonate best with your audience. Submit a photo at 180x180.
Step 4 – Add to FavoritesYou don't have to do this, but if you add the page to your favorites list, it will appear on the sidebar of your Facebook homepage. That makes it easy for you to access it quickly whenever you like.
Step 5 – Choose Your Preferred Page AudienceFacebook lets you specify a target audience for your new page. You'll choose audience probable location, age, gender, language, and possible interests. Making these choices means that Facebook will be more likely to show your page to the right people.
Step 6 – Submit a Cover PhotoYour page is now live, but a bit boring to look at. It's time to spruce it up a bit more. The profile photo that you already submitted gives a bit of visual interest to your page, but you can make it far more attractive by submitting an 828x315 cover photo. Go to your new Facebook page. Click on the button that says 'Add a Cover.'
Your cover photo is a great opportunity to add a visual element that promotes your branding and grabs attention. Be sure that the most interesting aspects are in the center because Facebook strips off part of the right and left sides for mobile devices.
